Current Status: Construction. North pedestrian bridge scheduled to reopen December 2024.
Image description: The above image shows the new steel pedestrian bridge at East Lake MARTA Station with the sun rising in the background.
East Lake Station opened in 1979 and is one of the first stations being renovated under MARTA’s Station Rehabilitation Program. The first phase includes new pedestrian bridges and a new elevator on the north side. The north pedestrian bridge was removed
and replaced in July 2024, and work continues with the installation of flooring, lighting, and final components for the new bridge and elevator foundations.
Unfortunately, the reopening of the north bridge has been delayed from October to December 2024 because of unexpected electrical and utility work required to connect the new bridge to the old concourse of the station. MARTA and its construction partners are working to accelerate the reopening as soon as possible. We
apologize for the inconvenience to the community and our customers. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we strive to improve the station and accessibility.
The complimentary shuttle service between the north and south sides of the station will continue to operate until the bridge is reopened. The Station Soccer pitch in the north parking lot remains open with limited parking.
Similar work is planned for the south bridge, scheduled to start after the north bridge reopens. Continue to visit this site for additional information and sign up for email updates below.
Station Rehabilitation Program Features:
